Very late

Today, the temperature started dropping FAST! Anyway, after school, my parents were late becuz they had to do some stuff. I am not complaining that they are late, it is just that they had no choice! I understand.

Tommrow, Thursday, we are doing the game "KrisKringle". The game is that you are supposed to sneakily put the present that you want to give to a person under his bag, under his table, etc. I just cannot wait for the KrisKringle to take place because this is the first time that I am doing it.

Advent Calendars

My advent calendars

I made an advent calendar with 23 flaps. If you have read my recent posts, you would have noticed my post about advent. You know that christmas changes which day that it would be on every year. So, Advent changes from 22-28 every year. This year, there are 23 advent days. Anyway, the theme of my advent calendar is a manger because advent is all about the preparation of Jesus' birth and not about Santa Claus, reindeers, snowmen,etc. People usually get mistaken about what advent is all about. Well, I think that it is worth the the while making the advent calendar.

Christmas Family

The Christmas Family

My class has a family to take care of. The family came from St Paul's. Each group was assigned to one person in the family. Well, My group,Group 1, was to take care of the mother. We thought of buying for her a mug, a sweater, or maybe a sweater! She SHOULD be feeling COLD because it is winter. I feel sorry for these poor family. I we buy sweaters for her, it should be extra large. Maybe it is extra large because the school wants the shirts/sweaters to last the family a very long time, or that the mother is simply LARGE SIZED! Other groups may be buying for the children so some of them bought the "Game of Life". We should all help these needy people as they are really poor, unless they are FAKING it! That's all. Bye! Advent

This year(2007), according to a reliable source, advent starts on the second of December and ends on Christmas eve(24 December). Because Christmas falls on different days each year, Advent can last 22 to 28 days. This year, Advent lasts 23 days. Advent comes from the Latin word adventur which means "arrival". It is a time to prepare ourselves for the coming of Jesus Christs' birthday. During Advent many Church services include a short Advent ceremony. The lighting of one candle each of the 4 Sundays is usually included before or after the reading. The advent wreath is made in a circle representing God's Unending Love, holly branches around the wreath reminds us of Everlasting Life with Jesus Christ, the wreath consists of 4 candles, 3 purple (a royalty color, representing the coming of our King), and 1 pink candle, (the joy candle). On Christmas day a white candle in the center of the wreath can be lite to represent the birth of Jesus Christ.

P.s. Remember Christmas is not about Santa ,reindeers,elves,etc. It is actually aboput Jesus's birth.

Poem on Remembrance Day

Do you remember my post on Remembrance Day? Well, I forgot to include the poem that I made for Mr Rubenstein! So, here's the poem! Enjoy!

The ignored dove

I am a dove.

I am overlooking the war from above.

Wherever I look, there if fighting.

There is killing, there is beating.

I am a sign of peace,

But still the war the war did not cease.

Bang! I hear a gunshot.

I smell blood,somebody was shot.

Now I hear cries of triumph,

One country has won.

Well, I typed out my reflections on Mr Ruben stein. You should know him from my earlier post. Well, just to remind you what Mr Rubenstein said, "War is evil, it truly is!"

Remembrance Day

On the 8th of November 2007, Mr. Leonard Rubenstein, a veteran from World War 2, came to St Bonaventure Catholic School. He said," War is evil, it really is." It is true as half of the boys that Mr R. came with never came back. Even though he went into war and suffered much, he still lives to a ripe old age of 91years. He was really helpful as when he saw a shivering girl, he gave the girl his sweater. But in return, he got caught by a German soldier and was put into a box without water as punishment. He does not tell his children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren about his experiences in war as he thinks that it would be too painful for them to take. But, for the past 5 years, he has been going around to schools like St Bonaventure, telling them about his experiences. I really learnt a lot from this veteran.
